SAYPAA statement of purpose.
South Australian Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (SAYPAA) is a committee of young AA members working together to carry the message to all alcoholics who still suffer, regardless of age. SAYPAA aims to contribute to the primary purpose of AA by providing a safe space for young people to participate in the three legacies of recovery, unity, and service.
SAYPAA exists to host events throughout the year to celebrate recovery and show that it’s possible to have fun in sobriety! SAYPAA events are hosted by young people for the AA fellowship as a whole; the events are inclusive for all members, irrespective of age, and serve as an opportunity to bridge the gap between young and old members alike.
SAYPAA is a sub-committee of Area B Central Region, and as such we are responsible to the fellowship as a whole. We do not claim to be a governing body of any group or individual. We endeavour to be self-supporting as a committee, with any surplus funds directed back into the fellowship through the Area.
It is SAYPAA’s policy to practice general transparency in regard to its mission, activities, finances, and governance.
SAYPAA objectives.
Form a committee of young members of Alcoholics Anonymous so that they may experience the benefits of service work in AA.

Be self-supporting through fundraising events, with surplus funds directed back into the fellowship as a whole via Area B.

Hold an annual SAYPAA convention.

Where possible, follow the same paths that have been walked by previous successful Young People’s conventions in Australia.

Inspire and encourage the three legacies of AA - Recovery through the 12 Steps, Unity through the 12 Traditions, and Service through the 12 Concepts.
SAYPAA structure.
SAYPAA is a sub-committee of Area B Central Region. As such, we are linked into the general service structure of Alcoholics Anonymous and are responsible to the fellowship as a whole.
